Hyundai, Kia to discontinue diesel-powered light-duty trucks in favour of LPG

Hyundai Porter powered by LPG

South Korea - Hyundai Motor Group (HMG), comprising mainly the Hyundai and Kia brands, announced it will stop making diesel-powered versions of its light-duty trucks by the end of this year as part of its shift towards more environmentally friendly products.

The South Korean company sent notifications out to dealers stating that from December of this year the company would discontinue its diesel-powered Hyundai Porter and Kia Bongo light delivery trucks, to be replaced by the same models powered to new generation cleaner 2.5L turbo-powered liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) engines. The new engines are said to address earlier LPG problems such as low power output and poor fuel-efficiency.
