First Einride trucks enter the UK market with Walkers Crisps

Einride and Walkers partnership

UK / Sweden – Swedish software development company and autonomous vehicle fleet operator, Einride AB*, has announced that the first two vehicles are now running on the UK’s roads, contracted by Walkers Crisps (owned by PepsiCo). The two DAF XD Electric trucks will be used to transport products between Leicester and Coventry. The next phase of the plan is to connect the major metropolitan cities of Bristol, Birmingham, London, Manchester and Sheffield, through a “regional freight mobility grid.”

In a statement, the company said that the vehicles acquired (DAF XD Electric) are already electric and will be built in the Netherlands. However, both vehicles have customised Einride solutions to ensure optimal suitability for freight transport. Additionally, the vehicles are powered by the Einride Saga intelligent platform, to optimise routes, charging needs and achieve the highest utilisation rates.
