Tiger Trailers announces expansion of reefer range at RTX

UK / Spain - Tiger Trailers Ltd of Winsford, Cheshire was at the Road Transport Expo show in Stoneleigh this month, exhibiting two of its more recently introduced trailer products; a milk-specific entrant to its Tiger Siberian temperature controlled semi-trailer range, and a step-framed moving double deck for Zenith Trailer Rentals (a trading name of Contract Vehicles Rentals Ltd), capable of transporting up to 44 pallets.
The Tiger Siberian reefer is built in partnership with one of Spain’s largest and oldest temperature-controlled trailer builders, Lecitrailer SA of Zaragoza. The partnership, which was confirmed in 2020, sees the Spanish company manufacture each Tiger Siberian trailer in its entirety including a fully KTL treated chassis. The trailer itself resembles Lecitrailer’s own product which has been developed over many years, but with certain modifications suggested by Tiger Trailers and its UK customers to meet UK build standards as well as to suit UK operations better. For instance, the plate around the king pin and the base of the front wall has been reinforced to meet UK retail operations, which sees trailers being connected and disconnected with tractor units several times a day – commonly the tractor to reefer trailer ratio in the UK is 1:2/3, whereas in Europe, the ratio is much less and almost at parity. Commonly, in Europe, the same tractor is used with the same trailer over many days as the distances travelled, generally, are much longer, hauling produce from southern Europe northwards.
