REE drive-by-wire electric vehicle platform judged FMVSS worthy following MIRA testing

REE x-by-wire

Israel / UKREE Automotive Ltd of Herzliya, Israel has announced that its battery electric vehicle platform has successfully completed testing at the MIRA Technology Park Enterprise Zone in Nuneaton, UK, confirming its feasibility to pass the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (required to sell the vehicles in the USA).

Testing was carried out by Horiba MIRA Ltd, which modelled certain FMVSS certification requirements. REE was anxious to find out if its proprietary drive-by-wire technology would pass the federal requirements prior to customer deliveries in the U.S. starting next year. The company now aims to acquire certificates from FMVSS, as well as the California Air Resources Board and the Environmental Protection Agency, before the end of the year, making its ‘P7’ vehicles roadworthy and eligible for incentives.
