UKWrightbus Ltd of Ballymena, UK has signed a contract with the ‘Sizewell C’ project, agreeing to supply up to 150 fuel cell electric buses for worker transportation to and from a nuclear power station construction site in the East of England.

Jointly funded by the UK government and French-owned EDF Energy Ltd, the Sizewell C project will begin construction of a nuclear power station sometime before the end of this year. A pilot scheme involving four Wrightbus ‘Hydroliners’ will start early next year, transporting workers to and from the construction site near Leiston. If the pilot is successful, a further 146 buses will be ordered, making for one of the largest fleets of hydrogen buses in the world.
