HVS begins testing hydrogen truck prototype

HVS X1.5 prototype

UK – Glasgow-based start-up manufacturer, Hydrogen Vehicle Systems Ltd (HVS), has begun what the company described as a “critical development stage” with the testing of its X1.5 prototype hydrogen truck. The prototype vehicle will now enter the dyno and systems testing and calibration phase. This is another step in bringing this product to market.

The HVS tractor is built on an in-house developed chassis, around the hydrogen powertrain consisting of pressurised hydrogen cylinders, fuel cells, an energy storage system and an eAxle. The design is focused on enhanced fuel efficiency on long-haul runs and improved spatial ergonomics within the cab, designed to help operators meet future operational commitments and target driver comfort and driver retention, respectively.
