Belgium / Netherlands – The components division of DAF Trucks N.V., based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, displayed a new series of PACCAR MX-11 and PACCAR MX-13 engines for buses, coaches and trucks at Busworld Europe in Brussels earlier this month. The Euro VI engine's maximum torque has been increased by 50 (to 150 Nm) and offers lower fuel consumption and longer time between service intervals than previous generations due to high torque and low revs. The new engines are able to run on both diesel and 100% HVO biodiesel. DAF Components was at the show to support existing bus and coach customers like VDL, Otokar, Yutong and others.
The new PACCAR MX-11 has outputs from 220 kW/299 hp up to 330 kW/449 hp. The MX-13 on the other hand has an output of 315 kW/428 hp up to 390 kW/530 hp. These engines are based on the power units installed by DAF in its new XD, XF, XG and XG+ truck range, which have been introduced over the last 18 months. The engines feature new injectors, a new cylinder head and block and a new design of pistons and liners. A new generation of efficient turbochargers is applied for best air management and new air compressors, oil pumps and alternators ensure parasitic losses are reduced to a minimum.
