Hitachi wins contract to install electric bus charging infrastructure in Italy

Hitachi Energy stand at Busworld Europe

Italy / Belgium / Japan – Earlier this month, Hitachi Energy, a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd of Tokyo, Japan, used Busworld Europe, to announce that the company has won a contract from Colas Rail Italiato to install its Grid-eMotion charging infrastructure in Genoa to aid the Val Bisagno Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line in Northern Italy. This contract will support the local Genoa City Council’s plan to decarbonise its public transport network by helping bring 34 electric buses online. Next year Hitachi will install two different Hitachi Energy Grid-eMotion charging technologies.

The Grid-eMotion Flash, a fast charger, will be used at bus stops. It utilises a pantograph to connect to its Terminal Feeding Stations (TFS). The use of rooftop pantographs minimises the need for cables, freeing up space in the terminals.
