Thermo King presents new environmentally friendly heat pump for bus HVAC at Busworld 2023

Belgium – At Busworld 2023, held between 7-12 October at the Brussels Expo, Thermo King Europe of Zaventem, Flemish Brabant presented its newest product in the ‘Athenia’ HVAC range for buses, a heat pump with a CO2-based environmentally friendly refrigerant.
The ‘Athenia Envi’ heat pump is a rooftop unit which can operate in ambient temperatures between -25 and 50 degrees Celsius. In a battery electric bus, the heat pump unit can also provide cool/warm water to condition the batteries during charging and discharging. With its integrated management system, the Athenia Envi can help regulate overall energy use in the electric bus, and waste heat can also be recycled to further reduce energy consumption.
