Underbody Charger System by Schunk Group

Belgium – At Busworld 2023, held between 7-12 October at the Brussels Expo, diversified manufacturer Schunk Group of Heuchelheim, Hesse, Germany showcased its latest products for charging electric vehicles, including an overhead pantograph and a system embedded in the ground.

At the show, Schunk demonstrated its latest products from the SLS range of pantographs, including roof-mounted and inverted variants. The pantographs shown are the second generation produced by the Schunk Smart Charging division, being larger and built according to a “less complicated design” than the previous generation, according to a company spokesman. Suitable for depots and opportunity charging enroute, the roof-mounted pantograph can provide between 150 kW and 1 MW of charging power and the inverted pantograph up to 600 kW.
