Volvo improves charging and adds GSR compliance to 2024 FL and FE Electric trucks

Model Year 2024 Volvo FL and FE Electric trucks

SwedenVolvo Trucks Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has launched sales of its model year 2024 ‘FL Electric’ and ‘FE Electric’ medium- to heavy-duty trucks, which feature improvements to charging performance and the addition of advanced driver assistance systems in line with upcoming General Safety Regulations.

The AC charging capacity of the FL and FE trucks is now 43 kW, almost double the previous capacity and thus halving the time required to recharge the batteries. Moreover, Volvo is adding safety systems such as Vulnerable Road User Detection, Side Collision Avoidance Support, and Driver Alert Support as standard. Additionally, the customer may choose to equip the trucks with a 360-degree bird’s eye view camera and/or a side camera. Finally, a fully electric power take-off option has been added as an alternative to the electro-mechanical option.
