Ashok Leyland delivers India’s first LNG-powered 18.5t rigid haulage truck – AVTR 1922

New AVTR 1922 LNG 19t rigid haulage truck

India - Ashok Leyland Ltd of Chennai has begun delivery of its first LNG-powered 19t gvw haulage truck, AVTR 1922, to Mahanagar Gas Ltd in Hosur.

With this delivery, Ashok Leyland claims it is the first OEM to supply a vehicle with an in-house developed LNG engine compliant to BS VI Stage II emissions guidelines. The AVTR 1922 truck¹ is powered by a 6-cylinder H-series LNG-fuelled engine derived from its diesel equivalent to which, Ashok Leyland also claims, it shares similar performance characteristics.
