Volvo to fund two PhD scholarships in hydrogen combustion technology

SwedenAB Volvo, a commercial vehicle corporation based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has announced it will fund two PhD candidates to conduct research into hydrogen combustion engine technology for applications such as heavy commercial vehicles. 

The group is offering two “VICE” (“Volvo Internal Combustion Engine”) scholarships for study at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg and Lund University. Starting later this year, with a proposed finish date of 2029, the two doctoral students will aid Volvo in developing the internal combustion engine with hydrogen as a fuel. They will be employed by Volvo, who will finance their research, supervision, and experimental expenses.
