Indian government mandates air conditioning in truck cabs from October 1, 2025

India – The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a new regulation mandating that the trucks manufactured on and after October 1, 2025, must be fitted with air conditioning for drivers; the new regulation will apply to trucks above 3.5 tons gross vehicle weight (GVW) – applies to trucks in the N2 and N31 categories.

In 2022, the notification date for air conditioning systems in truck cabins was set as January 1, 2023, but the date was delayed allowing manufacturers to incorporate air conditioning systems into the cabin designs and changed to October 2025.
