Schmitz launches S.KOe Cool fully-electric reefer with regen axle for the UK market

UK – On 14 March, Schmitz Cargobull Ltd took over the King’s Suite of the Hilton Metropole, situated near the NEC in Birmingham, to launch the ‘S.KOe Cool’, an all-new fully-electric refrigerated semi-trailer which is the first of its kind to receive type approval for the European market.
The S.KOe Cool is the German manufacturer’s first semi-trailer to be installed with the ‘S.CU ep85’: a transport refrigeration unit powered entirely by an onboard battery and electric axle instead of a diesel generator. The refrigeration unit is based on the Schmitz standard unit which has been in production for over a decade, except with a DC/DC inverter instead of the diesel engine and fuel filter. It is a 400V unit with a cooling capacity of 15,800 watts, and it comprises all the functions which customers have come to expect from Schmitz, including: optimised temperature control; multi-temperature functionality; remote monitoring and control via the TrailerConnect digital platform.
