Volvo launches new electric bus model and chassis for intercity applications

SwedenVolvo Bus Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has launched its first fully-electric intercity bus model, a low-entry vehicle which is built on a new global electric platform for intercity operations.

The new model is a battery electric version of the longstanding ‘8900’ range, designed for extended city, intercity, and commuter operations. The ‘8900 Electric’ is offered with two or three axles and can accommodate up to 110 passengers at its maximum length (14.9m; 12.3m also available for up to 88 passengers). Its driveline architecture is modular, allowing for a power output of up to 400 kW and an energy capacity of up to 540 kWh.
