Van Hool declares bankruptcy; bid from VDL and GRW accepted

Belgium – On 8 April, commercial vehicle manufacturer Van Hool NV of Koningshooikt, Antwerp went bankrupt, which has since prompted several bids from third parties willing to take over the company – of which one, a joint bid by VDL Groep and GRW Tankers & Trailers, has been accepted by the administrators.

At the end of March, Truck & Bus Builder reported that Van Hool’s “recovery plan” – which would have seen a workforce reduction of 1,100 jobs in order to save the company – fell through as Van Hool family members and shareholders failed to resolve their disputes.
