SKF launches new ‘conductive’ brush ring to reduce electric motor wear

SKF Conductive brush ring with Hybrid ball bearings

Sweden – Bearing and seal manufacturer AB SKF of Gothenburg, Sweden announced that it has developed a new brush ring design which it says will help to reduce the wear of electric powertrain components caused by parasitic currents.

SKF’s ‘Conductive’ brush ring provides the electrical connection between the rotor shaft of an electric motor and the motor housing. It uses pure carbon fibre bristles which SKF says offer a long working life and predictable and stable electrical performance with minimal rotating friction.
