CATL and Yutong present a new CV battery pack

China – At a launch event in Beijing, Chinese battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL), based in Ningde, Fujian, along with bus manufacturer, Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co Ltd (Yutong), based in Zhengzhou, Henan, unveiled a new long-life commercial vehicle battery pack with a claimed service life of up to 15 years or 1.5 million kilometres. CATL has been cagey about disclosing details, such as the battery chemistry, order numbers and when the product will go into series production. The Chinese battery manufacturer further claims that the battery maintains full capacity within the first 1,000 cycles. The new product will be used in Yutong’s next-generation electric Commercial Vehicles.
Yutong and CATL extended their partnership in 2022 for an additional ten years. CATL is also looking to take greater steps into the European market with plans to establish a manufacturing plant in Hungary.
