Brazil Eneva*, Vertu**, Virtu GNL*** and Scania Latin America Ltda of São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, have signed a contract for the acquisition of liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks, as the first and important step towards creating the largest road logistics corridor in Brazil, with a focus on reducing CO2 emissions; initially it will focus on the North and North East of the country.

This is the largest LNG truck sales contract ever carried out in Latin America, stated the consortium, with a total of 180 vehicles to be delivered. The first 30 trucks have already been delivered to Virtu GNL Brasil, a joint venture between Eneva and Virtu, and are to be used to fulfill gas supply contracts with gas production facilities in Vale and Suzano, Maranhão state. The remaining 150 trucks acquired by Virtu GNL are to be in operation from August 2024.
