Volare fits Allison Torqmatic transmissions in school minibuses

Brazil / USAVolare, the minibus brand and division of Marcopolo SA, both of which are based in Caxias do Sul (RS) has announced it will equip the first school buses with fully automatic transmissions in South America, supplied by Allison Transmission Ltda of São Paulo, a subsidiary of Allison Transmission Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

The National Educational Development Fund (FNDE), a federal agency linked to the Ministry of Education, announced recently it is to provide finance for some 320 new buses equipped with Allison Torqmatic™ series transmissions as part of its Caminho da Escola Program, which aims to provide public school students with access to safer and more reliable transportation. Allison said its entry into the Brazilian school bus market is representative of the strong growth the company is experiencing outside of North America.
