Commercial vehicle market in Argentina shows growth in May

Argentina – In May, the Argentine commercial vehicle market saw growth, with 1,192 units sold, marking a 21.4% increase from April's sales of 982 units. Despite this monthly improvement, the sales volume for May 2024 was 12.7% lower compared with the same month last year, which recorded 1,366 units. In terms of sales performance in May, Mercedes-Benz led with 511 units, an increase of 9.2% compared to the same month last year. IVECO followed with 369 units, experiencing a decline of 36.7% year-on-year, while Volkswagen showed significant growth, selling 119 units, up by 271.9% from May 2023. The best-selling model in May was the IVECO 170E truck, with 98 units sold, followed by the Mercedes-Benz ATEGO 1729S with 71 units, and the IVECO STRALIS with 61 units.

From January to May 2024, a total of 4,665 commercial vehicles were sold in Argentina. This figure represents a 22.9% decrease compared with the 6,052 units sold in the corresponding period of 2023. Mercedes-Benz maintained its lead in year-to-date sales with 2,174 units, capturing a 46.6% market share. IVECO followed with 1,365 units and a 29.3% share, despite a 41.1% decrease compared to the same period last year. The IVECO 170E truck emerged as the top-selling model in the first five months of 2024, despite a 55.05% drop in sales compared to the previous year. It was closely followed by the Mercedes-Benz Atego 1729 S, which showed a 53.7% growth in sales.
