Hindustan Zinc & Vedanta sign MOUs with AEsir Tech
India / USA – Battery maker, AEsir Technologies Inc* of Joplin, USA has signed Memorandum of Understandings with two Indian suppliers of minerals - Hindustan Zinc Ltd of Udaipur, India, an integrated mining and resources producer of zinc, lead, silver and cadmium for supply of Zinc and, Malco Energy Ltd (known as Vedanta Nico), a subsidiary of Vedanta Ltd, for supply of Nickel; both these metals are critical components for next-generation batteries.
According to AEir Technologies, Nickel plays an important role in EV battery technology, particularly in the cathode, where it enhances energy density, power output, and battery lifespan. Nickel-rich batteries, such as nickel-zinc variants, offer fast charging, reduce reliance on cobalt, and improve the overall electric vehicle (EV) value proposition. Zinc-based batteries are recyclable, use non-hazardous raw materials, and have a greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint six times lower than other technologies.
