Better recycling processes of container and packaging of production line parts saves BRA2 million in first year at VWCO

VWCO's parts logistics operation in Resende

Brazil - A programme to recycle and reuse containers and packaging used in the component supply chain to the production lines at the Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus Ltda (VWCO) plant in Resende has achieved savings in the company’s carbon footprint as well as some BRA2 million (USD370,000) in the very first year of this initiative.

This achievement results from the involvement of almost the entire supply chain, VWCO said, with 90% of its suppliers already involved in this procedure. As well as optimization of container re-use, the programme also involves extending the useful life of the packaging.
