SwedenVolvo Trucks Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has announced it is adding two new active safety options – one for side collision avoidance and the other for emergency braking – to its heavy-duty truck ranges across all markets.

Volvo’s new ‘Active Side Collision Avoidance Support’ adds to the existing system, which uses radar to detect cyclists approaching the side of the truck, with an automatic braking feature. As before, the system will alert the driver beforehand; however, if necessary, it will apply the brake automatically in the event of a possible collision.
