VWCO’s electromobility centre in Brazil maturing to provide sustainable transport solutions

BrazilVolkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (VWCO) of Resende, RJ is establishing itself as a key player in electromobility in Latin America. Nestled within its Resende factory, adjacent to the global R&D centre, is the e-mobility centre, dedicated to advancing sustainable transport solutions.

Since the inception of its dedicated electric vehicle team in 2018, VWCO has achieved significant milestones, including the launch of Latin America’s first electric truck (e-Delivery) in 2021 and the recent introduction of the e-Volksbus. This innovative bus showcases the company’s patented flexible modular architecture, allowing rapid development across various vehicle platforms. More recently, it says it announced the development of Niobium-based batteries.
