Hyzon links with New Way Trucks to offer first fuel-cell-powered electric refuse truck order in North America

USA – Hyzon Motors Inc, a manufacturer of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles based in Rochester, New York, announced that it has signed a purchase order for 12 hydrogen-powered refuse FCEVs to GreenWaste, the first of its kind in North America. Deliveries are set to start in Q4 2025 with the trucks built in partnership with Iowa-based family-run refuse and recycling truck body manufacturer, New Way Trucks. Hyzon stated that this order is to significantly help companies like GreenWaste reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in line with their 2030 sustainability goals.

This order comes off the back of multiple successful trials where the refuse vehicle completed several trial routes throughout San Francisco. The results showed an impressive range and payload. Currently, in the Bay area, Hyzon is trialling its trucks with employee-owned waste management company Recology. There are additional trials in other parts of the U.S. and Canada scheduled for next year.
