First hydrogen truck developed in Slovakia is successfully homologated

MIP unveils range-extended Ford electric truck

Slovakia – The first hydrogen truck to be developed in Slovakia was successfully homologated last month, according to an announcement by midibus manufacturer Mobility & Innovation Production s.r.o. (“MIP”).

The Slovak company unveiled the tractor unit at a press event – a Ford F-Max truck retrofitted with a range-extended electric powertrain and dubbed ‘M&I RH120R’. The vehicle shown had a gross vehicle weight rating of 45 tons and a hydrogen fuel capacity of 48kg, providing a range between 600 to 750 kilometres. Two interested customers – Czech logistics firm Metrans and Hungarian operator Waberer’s Group – have signed memoranda of understanding with MIP, agreeing to trial the model in their daily operations.
