Indonesia to introduce B40 biodiesel programme in 2025

Indonesia - Chief Economic Affairs Minister of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartato, confirmed that his government will officially introduce its B40 bio-diesel programme at the beginning of 2025, supported by the country’s abundance of palm oil. B40 biodiesel contains 40% palm oil-based biofuels blended with diesel. The oil and gas is produced by Pertamina, a state owned company based in Jakarta.
Airlangga Hartato, speaking at a press conference during the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) Ministerial Meeting in Jakarta in late November, said he expects the policy will help reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 40 million tons annually, adding “we are committed to starting the B40 biodiesel programme on 1st January 2025”, which will replace the current B30 programme.
