FAW Jiefang opens new truck engine plant in Dalian, China

FAW Jiefang’s first In-cylinder direct injection hydrogen engine

China - FAW Jiefang Automobile Company Ltd, headquartered in Changchun in China’s Jilin province, launched operations at its newly-built heavy truck engine plant in the city of Dalian, in the country’s north-eastern Liaoning province.

FAW Jiefang, the commercial vehicle unit of Chinese state-owned automaker FAW Group, began construction of the CNY620m (US$85m) facility in July 2022, with strong support from the local government. The facility has a production capacity of 50,000 5L-7L truck engines per year and features advanced green and intelligent manufacturing systems, including solar power, air-source heat pumps, and smart factory management technologies. It has an automation rate of 83%, according to the company.
