Toyota develops hydrogen refueling technology with ENGIE & HRS

Toyota, ENGIE and HRS develop next-generation hydrogen refuelling systems

Belgium  - Toyota Motor Europe, the Japanese automaker’s European subsidiary headquartered in Brussels, announced in January that it had signed an agreement with French refueling station manufacturer Hydrogen Refueling Solutions (HRS) and French energy company ENGIE SA, with the aim of rolling out next-generation hydrogen refueling systems in Europe. A pilot programme for the system will be launched, with the support of the EU-funded RHeaDHy project which focuses on accelerating infrastructure deployment.

Toyota claims its newly-developed hydrogen refueling solution is faster and more cost-efficient than current systems. The company pointed out “one of the key challenges for expanding hydrogen supply infrastructure is the need for hydrogen dispensers that can refuel both light-duty and heavy-duty fuel cell vehicles faster.”
