Comgás invests in gas filling stations in São Paulo (Brazil)

Brazil – Companhia de Gas de Sao Paulo (Comgás), the largest distributor of piped gas in Latin America, is installing natural gas refuelling stations in strategic locations in in the state of São Paulo to facilitate further increase of CNG powered vehicles in the region to reduce overall emissions within the state.
This initiative by Comgás is in response to incentives by operators to move to operating trucks and buses powered by natural gas or biogas: Last year the state of São Paulo adopted regulation 18.065/2024, which grants truck and bus operators exemption from local vehicle excise tax or Imposto sobre a Propriedade de Veículos Automotores (IPVA - an annual tax levied on registered vehicles and a requirement for receiving a license plate). Throughout 2024, the company signed six new contracts with transport companies and industries, collaborating with them to install natural gas fuel stations in their vicinity 10 new high-flow stations at strategic points to meet the growing demand.
