Foton & Teld agree heavy truck charging joint venture

Foton battery-powered heavy trucks

China - Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer, Beiqi Foton Motor Company Ltd (Foton), headquartered in Beijing, has signed a joint venture agreement with electric vehicle (EV) charging company, Teld New Energy Company Ltd, based in Qingdao in Shandong province, to build and operate a network of charging stations for heavy-duty trucks in China. The joint venture will also look to sell charging equipment for heavy-duty electric trucks in overseas markets.

The new company aims to have 25 charging stations up and running in strategic locations across China by the end of 2025, starting with Shanxi and Hebei provinces. It will use Foton’s V2X platform and Teld's charging platform to collect and process data from charging operations using AI-driven analytics, to provide real-time battery diagnostics and develop aftermarket services for new energy trucks.
