Bosch and Ceres end fuel-cell partnership
By Luke Willetts - 21st March 2025
UK / Germany – the multi-national engineering and technology company, Robert Bosch GmbH, based in Stuttgart, Germany has pulled out of its partnership with fuel cell system manufacturer Ceres Power Holdings plc, based in Horsham, UK. Bosch announced its decision to discontinue collaboration on solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technologies with Ceres and to consider selling its 17.44% stake in the company which led to a sharp decline in the British firm's share price. This decision is attributed to Bosch's reassessment of the SOFC market, which has not developed as anticipated, leading the company to refocus on hydrogen electrolysis technologies. This underscores the challenges within the SOFC market.
