China - FAW Jiefang Group Co Ltd, the commercial vehicle unit of the Chinese state-owned automaker FAW Group Corporation headquartered in Changchun City, announced in March that it has begun construction of a new manufacturing plant for light commercial vehicles in Qingdao, Shandong Province.

The facility, on the site of the previous Hailong Auto plant, is to have an annual production capacity of 100,000 internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and new energy (NEV) vehicles, including battery-electric and hybrid vehicles, all produced on a single assembly line. Trial production is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.
