Mahle presents bionic radial fan at Auto Shanghai 2025

Mahle bionic radial fan inspired by penguin fins
China – Mahle GmbH, a components supplier based in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, presented a new radial fan with a unique bionic design at Auto Shanghai, held in China between 23 April and 2 May.
Made for incorporation in an air conditioning system in a passenger car or commercial vehicle, the radial fan is 15% more efficient and 60% quieter than a conventional design, according to Mahle. The aerodynamic shape of the fan blades was inspired by the fins found on a penguin, which are made for gliding quickly through water.
