Volvo upgrades dynamic steering to respond to truck tyre blowouts

SwedenVolvo Trucks Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has announced that an upgraded version of its dynamic steering system is now available with its new heavy-duty trucks, incorporating a new function for responding automatically to a front tyre blowout.

Volvo’s new ‘Dynamic Steering’ can detect a puncture in the truck’s front tyre(s) and respond immediately in order to mitigate the impact. Normally, the driver alone would need to respond to a tyre blowout by seizing control of the steering wheel and correcting the vehicle if it veers from its course; Volvo’s dynamic steering system reacts to the situation more quickly than a human driver could and helps correct the course of the vehicle.
