Sweden – Volvo Trucks Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has announced that an upgraded version of its dynamic steering system is now available with its new heavy-duty trucks, incorporating a new function for responding automatically to a front tyre blowout.
Volvo’s new ‘Dynamic Steering’ can detect a puncture in the truck’s front tyre(s) and respond immediately in order to mitigate the impact. Normally, the driver alone would need to respond to a tyre blowout by seizing control of the steering wheel and correcting the vehicle if it veers from its course; Volvo’s dynamic steering system reacts to the situation more quickly than a human driver could and helps correct the course of the vehicle.
