UKVolvo Group UK & Ireland Ltd of Warwick, UK will launch what it calls the commercial vehicle industry’s first degree-level apprenticeship in truck sales this September, as part of an effort to attract a new generation of “diverse” talent to the industry.

The subsidiary of Swedish manufacturer AB Volvo is partnering with Middlesex University, based in Greater London, to put on a three-year course that will combine classroom study with on-the-job experience. The initiative is led by Volvo UK’s director of new vehicle sales, Hannah Mayo. Initially, there will be places for six students on the course, who will be guided through their studies by a workplace mentor and a university tutor.
