Great Wall launches G Series hybrid heavy-duty truck

China - Chinese state-owned automaker GWM Group (Great Wall Motors), headquartered in Baoding, Hebei Province, launched its new G-Series hybrid heavy-duty range, which the company claims offers customers reduced fuel consumption and greater efficiency for long-haul routes. Prices for the new truck range start at CNY 536,600 (US$ 74,840).

At the launch event in Baoding at the end of June, GWM said the new G-Series hybrid trucks offer “more than just fuel savings.” The flagship G1050 road tractor is powered by a new in-house hybrid system that includes a dual-motor dedicated hybrid transmission, generating a combined output of 1,050 hp. The company claims the truck consumes between 15% to 25% less than equivalent diesel trucks, allowing logistics fleet operators to significantly reduce their operating costs.
