Volvo's expanded distribution centre in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná state, Brazil
Brazil - Volvo do Brasil Veículos Ltda of Curitiba, Paraná, has expanded its Parts Distribution Center (C3) for dealerships, distributors and authorized centres in Brazil and Latin America. The expansion is part of Volvo's BRA 1.5 billion (USD 275 million) investment cycle in Brazil during the period 2023 to 2025.
Located in São José dos Pinhais (PR) the logistics complex stores, organizes and prepares components of trucks, buses, construction equipment and engines for distribution to 270 delivery points on the continent, ranging from the southern tip of Chile to the north of Mexico in North America. It is the third largest facility that concentrates the activities of receiving and distributing spare parts of the brand worldwide and was increased by approximately 10,000 square metres (m²), reaching a total built area of 43,000 m². Serving all of Volvo's business areas, it now has 35,000 m² of storage space and an additional 3,000 m² dedicated structure built to protect materials and processes from adverse weather conditions and cyber-attack. The number of storage positions has also increased, from 60,000 to 65,000. Currently, there are more than 4.5 million components stored daily accounting for some 60,000 different items in the inventory. The distribution center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with teams on call to respond to emergency calls. Components are sent to the Volvo network by road, air and river.
