Johnson Matthey sells its Catalyst Technologies business to Honeywell

Honeywell International Inc. HQ in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

UK / USA – Earlier this year, Johnson Matthey Plc* (JM) of London, a specialist chemicals company which manufactures catalysts, pharmaceutical materials, and pollution control systems, announced the sale of its Catalyst Technologies business to Honeywell International Inc. for GBP 1.8 billion. The transaction is expected to complete in the first half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. The divestment is part of JM’s ongoing strategy to simplify its portfolio and focus on key areas of competitive advantage.

Catalyst Technologies includes “process technology licensing and catalyst manufacturing for low-carbon fuels, blue hydrogen, and chemical production”. The business employs around 1,900 people across sites in the UK, the U.S., and India. It will become part of Honeywell’s Energy and Sustainability Solutions portfolio.
