Irizar receives e-bus order from Switzerland

Irizar ie bus

Switzerland / Spain – Bus and coach manufacturer, Irizar eMobility of Aduna, Spain (part of the Irizar Group of Ormaiztegi, Spain), announced that the Swiss regional public transport operator TRAVYS SA has placed an order for an unspecified number of electric Irizar ie buses. The framework agreement runs through to 2029. The vehicles will be fitted with pantograph charging capabilities, enabling opportunity charging during operation. All units will be built at Irizar’s factory in Aduna, Northern Spain, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2026. According to Irizar, they will be equipped with the latest generation Irizar NMC 3.0 batteries and a new drivetrain, enhancing their performance.

The buses will run in rural and urban communities across Yverdon-les-Bains, Vallée de Joux, and Sainte-Croix. This recent acquisition adds to the twenty-one Irizar electric buses that Voyages Emile Weber previously purchased in 2019. This order marks Irizar’s continued expansion into the Swiss market, where it has previously delivered electric buses to Schaffhausen, Geneva, and Bern. The vehicles will be supported locally by Visa Saxon, Irizar’s Swiss technical service and logistics partner.
