Centrica secures minority stake in Gasrec to accelerate Bio-LNG rollout

By Luke Willetts - 7th September 2025

UK – UK-based renewable fuels company Gasrec Ltd, headquartered in London, has received a 16% minority investment from Centrica plc. Centrica joins existing shareholders BP and private investor 44 North, providing both financial backing and strategic alignment as Gasrec scales its open-access biomethane refuelling infrastructure.

The investment will accelerate Gasrec’s expansion, including its second large-scale biomethane refuelling station at Hams Hall (near the M6/M42), due to open later this year, alongside future planned sites in Warrington, Avonmouth, and other strategic locations. With increased capital support, Gasrec can expand capacity more quickly and offer secure, long-term supply agreements to fleet operators.
