Karsan autonomous e-ATAK
Switzerland / Turkey – Turkish bus manufacturer, Karsan Otomotiv Sanayi ve Tic AŞ (“Karsan”) of Bursa, has deployed its Autonomous e-ATAK, marking the country’s first Level-4 driverless public bus. The vehicle was first delivered last year and began operations in autumn 2025, running a 2.2–2.5 km route with 8–9 stops between Arbon’s historic city centre and the Saurer Werk 2 district at speeds up to 30 km/h.
The rollout of the e-ATAK was part of Arbon’s SCCL (Self-Controlled City Liner) project led by TGA (Technical Association of Arbon), in collaboration with operator Eurobus Ostschweiz AG. Advanced tech and safety are central to the project. The bus is equipped with LiDAR, radar, RGB and thermal cameras, and is supervised via teleoperation support for added safety and operational resilience. It navigates complex urban environments, including narrow streets and intersections, at 30 km/h, and is wired for future infrastructure communication via V2X.
