Equipmake showcases ZEPA V2V at Cenex Expo 2025

UK – At the 2025 Cenex event at the UTAC Millbrook proving ground in Bedfordshire, UK (3-4 September), Norwich-based electrification specialist and repowering company, Equipmake Ltd, debuted its ZEPA V2V (Zero Emission Pumping Appliance vehicle-to-vehicle) project, developed to tackle one of the biggest hurdles in electrifying specialist emergency vehicles.

T&BB spoke to Ian Foley, CEO of Equipmake, who told us that the system development was funded by the Department for Business and Trade and supported by the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC). The system enables vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) energy transfer. In practice, this allows one electric fire engine to draw power directly from another, ensuring continuous, zero-emission pumping operations at prolonged incidents without interruption. At the show, two fully electric fire engines were on display, one fitted with the V2V auxiliary battery system. The London Fire Brigade will begin live trials of the technology in the coming months.
