Sona Comstar forms joint venture with Chinese partner to make differential housings and gears

India / China – Electric motor, components and systems supplier, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd1 (Sona Comstar) of Gurugram, India has announced the formation of a USD20 million joint venture with China’s Xiangyang Jinnaite Machinery Co Ltd2 (Jinnaite) to manufacture driveline components for both domestic and international markets.
Under the agreement, Sona Comstar is to hold a 60% stake in the joint venture company investing USD12 million, while Jinnaite is to hold 40% and invest USD8 million worth of assets and business for the remaining 40%. The companies state the collaboration combines Sona Comstar’s expertise in driveline system design, precision forging, and machining with Jinnaite’s strengths in casting, moulding, and local networks. Jinnaite also brings with it 63 patents and 36 proprietary technologies.
