Operator - Santa Brígida -lowers carbon emissions in São Paulo with Volvo e-buses

Brazil – Bus operator, Santa Brígida has strengthened its commitment to sustainable transport with the purchase of 20 new Volvo BZRLE low-floor electric buses in São Paulo, Brazil; the purchase supports São Paulo’s transition towards zero-emission mobility, with the city aiming to decarbonize the largest bus fleet in Latin America.

The BZRLE chassis, introduced by Volvo to the Brazilian market earlier last month, is equipped with four or five 90 kWh lithium-ion batteries, fast-charging up to 250 kWh in around one hour via CCS2. Built on the same platform as Volvo’s diesel buses, it retains the frame, brakes, and axles of conventional models, while introducing an electric drivetrain designed for urban operations. The chassis are produced at Volvo Buses América Latina Ltda factory complex in Curitiba, Paraná State.
