SwedenVolvo Trucks Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has announced an updated version of its driver distraction warning system – capable of tracking the driver’s eye movements – will be made available with new trucks from November.

Volvo’s updated ‘Driver Alert Support’ adds a second camera to the system which has an eye-tracking function. This new camera can identify signs of distraction or inattentiveness, triggering a pop-up message on the dashboard and a warning sound to alert the driver. It is active at speeds above 18 km/h and can be deactivated. The system also uses a forward-facing camera that monitors driving behaviour and the position of the truck on the road.
