USA / Germany -  Daimler Trucks North America Inc (DTNA) of Portland, Oregon, United States delivered the first vehicle from its Freightliner Electric Innovation Fleet – a Freightliner eM2 – to Penske Truck Leasing last month (December 2018). Its introduction into Penske's fleet is also a first in DTNA's co-creation approach with its customers to develop technology jointly that is to shape the future of transportation – see details below of the Freightliner Electric Vehicle Council.

As part of its role in this supplier-customer relationship, Penske Truck Leasing has committed to installing 20 high-power charging stations in five of its locations across California starting January 2019. It also plans to put an additional nine medium-duty electric eM2 trucks and 10 heavy-duty Freightliner eCascadia electric trucks into targeted service in California and the Pacific Northwest. These will enter service as part Penske's expansive logistics, truck leasing and truck rental fleets.
