Germany – Fifth-wheel and trailer chassis components specialist, Jost Achsen Systeme GmbH of Neu-Isenburg is promoting use of a high-performance, organic, bio-degradable grease for fifth wheel couplings.

Jost claims that under normal working conditions, and prior to its launch of its LubeTronic greasing system, a traditional fifth wheel coupling requires around 10kg of grease annually. Much of this grease would drip onto the road, stated Jost, contaminating the environment and potentially endangering other road users. Whilst the introduction of the LubeTronic greasing system succeeded in reducing the quantity of grease lost to the environment by reducing the amounts required from 10kg annually to around 1.6kg today; there remained a negative impact on the  environment.
